Vacation trip to England, Scotland, Belgium and France in
September, 2001
Here are some highlights

London
 |
Days 1 - 2:
Our first two days: the flight over; the walk about
Westminster; Prince Albert memorial; watching the Changing of the Guards
and the Tower of London. We became tourists of the traditional sort. |
Edinburgh
 |
Days 3 - 5:
We boarded the Great Northern Railway and traveled to
Edinburgh. Besides the incredible countryside seen from the train; we
toured the city, Holyrood Abbey, Holyrood Palace and the extraordinary
Edinburgh Castle. |
Day Trips
 |
Days 6 - 8:
Using our Britrail pass, we took three Day Trips. We
visited Bath, Portsmouth Harbor and the Palace of Blenheim outside
Oxford. |
Ypers, Belgium & Vimy
Ridge, France

 |
Days 9 - 11:
A very special part of our vacation. This was not on
the typical tourist itinerary.
With our guide Tom Morgan (webmaster of
Hellfire Corner
website) we traveled from Dover to Ypres for a visit to the battlefields
and World War One memorials and then down to the Canadian National
Monument at Vimy Ridge in France.
